Michael Martin Engel II was a former member of the Salmagundi Club, National Arts Club, Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts of London, honorary member of Kappa Pi, former President of Artists Fellowship and a former president of Audubon Artists. He is known primarily for his marine, cityscape and landscape paintings of New York and Long Island, he also did paintings based on his travels to the Caribbean, Ireland, Florida and Vermont.
